dagget

Buoyed by a good showing in two polls yesterday, independent gubernatorial candidate Chris Daggett came out swinging in last night’s debate with Democratic Gov. Corzine and Republican Christopher J. Christie.

“My two opponents’ campaigns have been going backward since June,” said Daggett. “Mr. Corzine, because he has had a series of failed fiscal policies which led our state to near ruin, and Mr. Christie, because he’s had a campaign without substance and lacking in intellectual integrity.”

Plasticity lab conclusion

In class we tried to create a substance that acted like the mantel. We mixed together water and corn starch and when you rolled it around in your hand it acted like a solid, but right when you stop rolling it just turned into a liquid. This is just like how the mantle behaves because it acts like a liquid and a solid. That is exactly like the mantle. After the lab we cleaned up our mess and it took a really long time. This was one of the funnest labs I had ever done.

October Sky

Last week we watched a movie about a boy named Homer Hickam who wanted to win the science fair so all his friends would get scholarships. If he managed to get a scholarship he wouldn't have to work in the mines with his dad. The mines were a very dangerous job to have to do because pieces of the mines collapsed and injured people all the time. So Homer Hickam and his friends started building rockets. In there first 50 attempts they failed, but finally they figured it out. People came to see there progress everyday. Finally they entered there towns science fair and won. Then they went to the nationals. Only Homer Hickam could go because it was to much money to pay for all of them to go. So he entered, but someone had stealen his rocket. His dad quickly arranged to have the rocket brought to Homer. Homer was so happy when he received another rocket and ended up winning th science fair. All of his friends were offered free scholarships.

response to breast cancer

I read a blog about breast cancer. I learned many things. I learned that symptoms of breast cancer are lumps in the breasts. It can spread throughout your body. It is very common for women to have breast cancer. It not common for men to have breast cancer. I learned that this cancer is the second most common cancer in the world. This blog was very helpful. It taught all about breast cancer.

Dwarfism (achondroplasia)

Dwarfism is one of the many genetic disorders that make life harder for the people that have them. Dwarfism was discovered and named in 1967. The symptoms of dwarfism are poor growth, failure to thrive, short stature, short arms, short legs, subnormal intelligence, short feet and short hands. The complications are that you walk slower. There is currently no treatment for dwarfism. If you have dwarfism you die earlier then a normal person. More then 50 million people in the Us have dwarfism. Anyone is vulnerable to dwarfism. However some people believe that boys have a better chance of getting dwarfism then girls. Genes known as RMRP have mutated and have been known to cause dwarfism. I feel terrible for the people that have dwarfism. I feel terrible because they have a lot harder time then me.

IPhones are free in Japan!!!!!!!

In Japan iphones are free! If you have a smart phone in 2 years you can get a iphone for free. This offer is expected to end in May. Some people may want the 16GB which would cost $118. Japan has a very competetive cell phone market. A marketer thought that the iphone wouldn't sell well. I want to go to japan and by one now.

Underwater bombs threaten marine life

The sea floor is filled with tons of underwater bombs. These bombs were left from the US navy, but they are majorly affecting sea life. These bombs are causing cancer and therefor endangering many animals. These bombs were supposed to be safe to sealife. Unfortunately these bombs are majory affecting sea life. I hope scientists can figure out a way to stop this.

Giant Snake

Scientists find a snake fossil from 48 million years ago. This snake would have been 13 meters long and 2,500 pounds. Scientiscall this snake Titanoboa cerrejonensis. Titanoboa's fossilized remains were discovered at a coal mine in the tropical Cerrejon region of northern Colombia by a team of scientists. It would have had to be 86 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit for the snake to have survived. I think this is cool but im happy no snake was ever this big.

Report cards failing

Gov. Jon Corzine's goal of raising standards in New Jersey high schools is getting off to a bad start. Tons of middle school students are failing. New tests are being made to prepare students for what is to come.Responding to test data released today, people think that harder tests will make it easier for students to suceed in the later years to come. However other people think that the tests are getting to hard to fast.Fifth and sixth graders failed in badly on the proficiency test. In language arts, 40 percent of all fifth and sixth grade students failed. Some other districts had failure rates above 70 percents.Rich Vespucci thinks that the decrease in scores was exspected, but personally I think they made these tests way to hard

a flying car!!!!!!

A flying car has just been released into the market. This car can fly 500 miles before it runs out of gas. This car is 194,000 dollars. I think that it's worth it. You drive to the runway to take off and then when you land the wings fold up and you can leave. A boston area company made this possible.I think this is a amazing accomplishment.

The new president!!!!

Today a new president has been elected, but not an ordinary president. This is because he is the first black president ever. The place was packed with tons and tons of people. Obama was oficially declared president at 12:10. With this great new step in america there is still one question which is how will Obama be able to handle all these problems.

Obama promises to the economy many things. Here is what he said. "Today, I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious, and there are many. But know this America...they will be met. This is a very challenging promise to hold out. Obama also thanked president Bush for his service. I think that showed great charachter. I think Obama will be able to pull this off. Obama also said "we will begin to responsibly leave Iraq to its people, and forge a hard-earned peace in Afghanistan." I agree with this statement. There are to many soldiers in Iraq.

This was witnessed by millions of people all over the world. I wish Barack Obama the best. I am confident he will be a very succesfull president. He will make this world a better place.

Heart Attacks?

Researchers believe they have found a way to help heart attack patients recover faster. They believe they can do this by prompting bone marrow to release certain stem cells. The discovery was made by scientists at Imperial College in London led by Dr Sara Rankin. She was looking for a way to release the cells that make blood vessels. They are now finding ways to multiply these cells. All they need to do now is provide proof.
